Castle of Milany – Route 1
To do this route you need to have a good physical level due to its duration and gradient.
The starting and finishing point of the route is located at the reception point of the Ripollès MTB Center in the same park as the Sant Joan de les Abadesses station.
We will cross the town until we find the forest track of Les Llances that will take us to the bridge of Samala. We will continue along the road and after a few meters we will turn off to go down to the Vallfogona stream. Following the route we will find route 10 which we will follow until Vallfogona, passing by Milany. We will continue along the N-260 road to the Samala bridge and follow the same route we climbed until we reach the reception point again.
Highlights of this route include a visit to the town of Sant Joan de les Abadesses, Vallfogona de Ripollès and panoramic views from Milany Castle, located 1575 m. of altitude, in a dominant and strategic point with a very wide view; the Pyrenees from the Sierra del Cadí to the Canigó, the plain of Vic the valleys of the lower Ripollès and the valley of Ribes, the Lluçanès, in the Garrotxa the cliffs of Sant Aniol, Guitarriu and Bassegoda, the Sierra del Collsacabra, the Montseny and the lighthouse, the Puigsacalm and the Sierra de Bellmunt.
