Batet is a small neighbourhood in Ribes de Freser, situated under the mountain of the same name. The main residence of the district, Campussons, is one of the oldest in the Ribes Valley due to its location on the road that goes from Queralbs to la Cerdanya. In the centre of Batet is where the Chapel of Mare de Déu del Carme stands. The small Chapel of Mare de Déu del Carme is a beautiful example of popular architecture. Built in 1686 due to a repeated supernatural event that occurred on the rock on which it stands, which each day was framed by a line of dew, it was the subject of a vote by the inhabitants of Batet, who promised to solemnly celebrate the festival of the Virgin Mary of Carme if they were saved from a cholera epidemic that spread throughout the valley in 1854. This festival is still held and the chapel holds mass for the local residents.
