Vallter via Oix and Beget
This route features the spectacular category 1 climb up the Vallter mountain pass, which has served several times as the final stage of the Volta a Catalunya cycling race. At its peak you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Morens cirque.
Route description
The route starts in Camprodon, where you take the C-38 to Sant Pau de Segúries and then turn onto the C-153a. After 1 km, turn left towards Vall del Bac, where you start to descend to the GIV-5221 and then onto Oix. In Oix, you start to make the climb up the first mountain pass, Coll de la Pera, also known as Coll de Bucs (803 m), which is 8 km long with gradients of 11 to 12% from kilometre 1.5 to kilometre 5. Continue along the same road as far as Beget, where you turn towards Camprodon to take the GIV-5264 towards Vallter. Setcases marks the start of the second mountain pass, Vallter (2,155 m), which is 12 km long with gradients of 6 to 12%. Having reached the top, turn around and head down to Camprodon along the same road you came up on.
