The Walking Tour of Sant Jaume de Frontanyà (Coll de Merolla)
A route along which you can enjoy a wide variety of landscapes and roads in one of the less frequented areas of El Ripollès.
Route description
The route starts in Campdevànol, which you can reach by train. Take the GI-401 minor road for 13 km to the Coll de Merolla mountain pass (1,090 m) via Gombrèn. Carry on for 6 km along the B-402 and, just before reaching La Pobla de Lillet, turn left towards Sant Jaume de Frontanyà, where you will climb one of the hardest sections of the trail for 7 km up to the Coll de la Batallola mountain pass (1,197 m), with gradients of up to 15%. Once you have reached the top, continue for 2 km along the same road as far as Sant Jaume de Frontanyà and then turn onto the BV-4656 to Borredà. Take the C-26 towards Les Llosses and Ripoll and after 2 km turn right towards Alpens and Sant Quirze de Besora along the BP-4854. Continue along this road to the Puigcercós campsite, where you turn left onto a concrete road for 3 km before rejoining the C-26. Carry on along this road for 14 km until you come to the C-17. Continue on that road for 7 km to Campdevànol via Ripoll.
