Coll de la Creueta and Collada de Toses
On this route you can reach the summit of La Creueta, one of Catalonia’s most legendary mountain passes. It is widely known because of the large number of times it has been featured in the Volta a Catalunya and the Vuelta a España bike races.
Route description
The route starts in Ribes de Freser, which you can reach by train or park your car opposite the Ribes Valley tourist information office. Take the N-260 to Campdevànol and the turn towards Gombrèn along a minor road, the GI-401. Two kilometres after Gombrèn, turn right towards Castellar de n’Hug. This marks the start of the Coll de la Creueta (1,921 m) mountain pass, which runs for 20 km with gradients of 6 to 11%. Once at the top, carry on along the BV-4031 to the GI-480 towards Tosses and at the Hotel Spa La Collada turn right to take the N-260 to Planoles. Cross the village to the station, where you can take a concrete road for 5 km with gradients of 6% to 12% to Campelles (1,310 m). Then head down to Ribes de Freser to return to where you started.
