Coll de Jou and Collada de Toses
One of the most demanding routes, with two long, hard mountain passes: Coll de Jou and Collada de Toses. Along the route you can enjoy wonderful views of much of El Ripollès.
Route description
The route starts in Ripoll, which you can reach by train or park your car at the Can Guetes restaurant or the Centre de Tecnificació Esportiva L’Avellaneda sports centre. Take the N-260 to Sant Joan de les Abadesses and then turn onto the GIV-5221 towards Ogassa. Ogassa marks the start of the climb up the Coll de Jou mountain pass (1,637 m), which is 10 km long with gradients of 7 to 11% and more than 15% in some sections. At the top, make your descent along the same track to Ribes de Freser via Bruguera. Take into account that the route from Ogassa to Bruguera (16 km) is on a concrete road. At Ribes de Freser you start the ascent to the Collada de Toses mountain pass (1,786 m) along the N-260. It is 25 km long with an average gradient of 3.5%. At the top, turn towards Toses, where you can start your descent to Planoles. Cross the village to the station, where you can take a concrete road for 5 km with gradients of 6 to 12% to Campelles (1,310 m). From there you make your way down to Ribes de Freser, where you take the N-260 to Ripoll to return to where you started.
