“Route that allows us to contemplate lofty mountains and lush forests of the surroundings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

We start the route in Plaça del Raig, just at the entrance to the town and go up the Fontalba road, gaining height in a sustained way while enjoying the views of Puig del Torreneules and Balandrau, located at the bottom and to our right. respectively.

A few meters higher we find the Font del Solà and just in front of it there is a stone table with wooden benches that allow us to rest and regain strength, while contemplating a spectacular panorama on the other side of the valley with the Balandrau in the top.

We resume our itinerary continuing up the Fontalba road and we find the crossing of the Camí de Núria. We continue on without leaving the road.

We arrive at a fork where we find an indicator of the route. As it marks us, we continue to the left leaving the road to continue along the track. This road is the old track of the wagons that came from the Zaragoza mine, located in the Serra d’Estremera.

A few meters further we find the Puig, an old hut already mentioned in the seventeenth century. In this part of the itinerary we can enjoy the views of the Vall d’Estremera.

We continue along the track and come to a crossroads. As the route sign indicates, we follow the flat path on the left, which leads us back to the town.

During the pleasant walk along this path, we see several stalls where at certain times of the year we can find cows and mares grazing or straw bales that store the food of the animals to feed during the winter.

Arriving at the village, we pass behind the church of Sant Jaume and enter the beautiful cobbled streets of Queralbs.

Some of the houses still have traditional slabs on their roofs, which are thick and light gray in color. From the 1950s onwards, these slabs were gradually replaced by smaller, smoother, black ones. These roofs distinguish the town of Queralbs from almost all the others in the Ribes valley.

We continue along Carrer de la Font de Dalt until we see Plaça del Raig at our feet, where we go down the Pujada de Cal Perico to get there and end this easy and quiet route.”
