Saint Pol’s Church

Despite being known by this name, the church is devoted to St John and St Paul . It was built in the XII century it had an only nave with three apses and the bell tower; in the XVIII century the side naves were added. This church was used as the Town Parish church until 1851 when the Monastery Church took this role.
During the Civil War the side walls were destroyed and some years later the front facade was restored as it is nowadays .It is worth pointing the tympanum carved with the sculpture of Christ surrounded by St.Peter and St. Paul.

The church of Sant Pol dates back to the 12th century. Its Romanesque ruins allow visitors to see how churches were constructed in that period.

The church is located next to the Anselm Clavé square, built around 1920 by Jeroni Martorell, during the expansion of the town. The fountain that adorns the square is the work of Josep Camps and is crowned by a statue that probably represents Count Arnau.
