Church of Sant Marcel de Planès

This church is also called Planès de Rigard.It was built at the end of the XI century or the beginning of the XII century. The building consists of one single long rectangular nave crowned with a long semicircular outside apse and an inside horseshoe shaped one. it is covered with a circular surface. The roof which is quite low is made of slate and the walls are made of ashlar of different sizes but orderly laid out .It has a bell gable tower. The church is an example of the rural Romanesque architecture of that time.

The church of Sant Marcel de Planès, which dates back to the 11th century, is a fine example of the period’s Romanesque architecture.
