Maragall House

Situated on calle Mayor in the town of Vella, it is the house where the poet Joan Maragall spent his summer holidays and where he wrote La Vaca Ciega and Los Gozos de la Virgen de Nuria. Thanks to him staying in our town, he also learned the legend of Count Arnau, about which he wrote a magnificent poem.

The history of San Juan, strongly related to the monastery, was one of the poet’s inspirations, as in the case of the poem El conde Arnau about the legendary figure of the Count.
